24th Chief Justice of Bangladesh took oath

Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan vowed to establish rule of law and justice for the common people of the country following the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu. After taking the oath, he expressed this promise after paying tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu at number 32 in Dhanmondi on Tuesday.
The Chief Justice said, I have taken a pledge today to establish the rule of law and justice for the common people of the country following the ideals of Bangabandhu. He made this comment in response to journalists’ questions.
Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan said, Bangabandhu gave us the constitution. It is the duty of all the judges of our Supreme Court to protect that constitution. After paying his respects, he signed the condolence book kept next to the portrait.
Prior to this, he interacted with judges of the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court for a short period of time. The exchange was held at the Judges Lounge of the Supreme Court.
Earlier, Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan took oath as the 24th Chief Justice of the country on Tuesday, September 26 at 11:07am. President Md. Sahabuddin administered the oath to the newly appointed Chief Justice at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban.
Several government ministers, Appellate Division and High Court Division judges were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Retired former Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui was also present at Bangabhaban. On September 12, the President appointed Justice Obaidul Hasan as the 24th Chief Justice of the country.
