Bangladesh Padma Bridge: 30th span installed; 4.5 km now visible

The 30th span of the much-anticipated Padma Bridge was installed today, bringing 4.5 kilometres of the structure into view.

The span linking the 26th and 27th pier was installed around 9:35am at Janjira end, Dewan Md Abdul Kader, project manager (main bridge), told The Daily Star.

The span was taken to the spot on the river from the construction yard yesterday, he said.

The development came at a time when the country is facing a virtual lockdown with operation of all types of passenger transportation suspended, and public and private offices closed.
